Installations & Gallery
Molly’s Pub & Restaurant (2nd floor), Lancaster, PA
Joel’s largest installation can be found on the second floor of this popular downtown Lancaster restaurant. The “Sonic” series, consisting of 15 pieces (10 panel mural, plus 5 companion pieces on opposite walls) is acrylic and stain on masonite panels, each framed and mounted directly onto the walls. Ember found inspiration for this series in a stand alone piece he created called “Et-Sonica”, his
Only ever oil on wood panel. The installation was completed in October 2005, and the ‘sonic boom’ of popularity for this artistic endeavor is still being felt across the Lancaster art world today.
Restaurateur and owner of Molly’s Pub, Anthony Maglietta, continued to purchase numerous pieces from Joel over the next 3 years, and there now numbers over 45 pieces on the second floor, with
3 distinct series of panels and stand alone paintings. They cover 11 walls, and over 120’ of wall space, with the largest panel being a 4’ by 8’ panel in the hallway. The permanent installation and collection is on display whenever the second floor lounge is open.
From the late 1990’s through his 2004 re-emergence into the Lancaster art scene with the show “Prague: New Works” (which sold out in 30 minutes), Joel has maintained a very hectic show schedule. In 2005 and 2006, Joel had a record 12 shows in 14 months. Since then he has backed off his show schedule, to a total of 3-4 shows per year.
From the artist:
I would like to thank everyone who has made the last 6 years so successful for me. I’m thrilled to have such success so near to home, after many years away in Florida. I’d like to thank Harvey & Michael for their support, Cathy Hedge for her website design and Maintenance, and Wendell Funk and Anthony Maglietta for their collecting of my work. Finally, thanks to all my friends who show up at my openings to support, and make them incredibly fun events for all who attend.
